Why I write Life Through the Lens of Love
Hello and welcome to Life Through the Lens of Love, my little corner of the internet. I am so glad to meet you here!
My name is Katie, and I live in Brisbane, Australia, with my wonderful husband, our three children, and three chickens who roam our backyard.
I have been a writer for as long as I have known how to write. When I was in Year 3, I would write pages and pages during free writing time, noticing even then that my peers didn’t quite do the same. That creative freedom brought me deep joy. However, as with many true passions, writing also caused frustration. I feared I wasn’t “good enough” and worried I might never achieve anything with this desire. That changed when I placed my gift in God’s hands and asked Him to guide my journey.
Through prayer, I have realized that writing is how I abide with God; it is how I process my thoughts and the world around me. I have called my website Life Through the Lens of Love, as my writing reflects or considers aspects of life, whether it is historical fiction, fantasy, creative non-fiction or memoir, by attempting to apply God’s lens of love to it.
After I gave my writing to God, I felt called to dive more deeply into the Gospels, imagining myself within them through the eyes of various female characters. The result of that time is my first book, Her Story of Jesus, published through Calla Press.
I feel God calling me to continue this journey through a “trilogy” of sorts—three books centered on the Trinity. While they span different genres and aren’t a trilogy in the traditional sense, each is dedicated to one person of the Godhead. Her Story of Jesus focuses on the Son.
My next book, Falling Back to Eden, focuses on God the Creator and centers on the Old Testament. This work will blend fantasy elements with reflective essays. My third book, which is yet to be named, will explore the Holy Spirit’s work in my own life through creative non-fiction and memoir.

I also feel called to write a novel based on the story of the Samaritan woman who met Jesus at the well, traditionally known as Photini. There may be more I am called to write in the future, but this reflects the scope of my calling for now.
In addition to these larger works, I plan to share a few pieces here that explore other areas of my faith:
How God Opens Doors: A series reflecting on the various ways God opens doors for us—including those we don’t realize we’ve walked through until long after we have crossed the threshold.
Contemplative Prayer: Personal reflections on how I have been led by God through my own practice of contemplative prayer.
The Camino de Santiago: A reflection piece I have been developing about my experience walking the Camino in Spain in 2011.

If I could do anything for a career and money were no object, I would 100% dedicate myself to crafting stories day in and day out. I am deeply grateful for your support here; the more readers I have, the more I am able to write.
Perhaps unusually for a writer, I am an extrovert. I love hearing other people’s stories and engaging in deep, meaningful conversations. This passion led me to start The Profound Moments Podcast, where I dive into the stories of others.
I am always open to hearing what my readers would like me to explore. If there is a topic or a question you would like me to contemplate in my writing, please drop a comment below or send me a message.
With love,
Katie
